The project is developed by inverting the solid/void conditions of a “cave” formation. The translation of the cave wall from solid to void leaves the original wall as just a surface, in this case, a shell of offset rings.  As the rings become walls and structure, the inherent perforation formed by the offsets create a physical link between the “enclosed” exterior (courtyard) spaces and “open” interior volume. The directionality of the offsets defines the circulation between floors and spaces while the voids of the courtyards create a relationship between site and structure.
