Formally developed by inverting the solid-void relationship of a “cave,” the project creates an occupiable solid.  Working through different modeling techniques The translation of the cave wall from solid to void leaves the original wall of the solid as a shell of offset rings.  As the rings become walls and structure, the inherent perforation formed by the offsets create a physical link between the “enclosed” exterior spaces (courtyards) and “open” interior spaces. The directionality of the offsets defines the circulation between floors and spaces within the building while the voided courtyards define the relationship between site and structure.
